. this is 9news now. right now the cold and the rain have definitely moved into the area. and counties have started their snow press. >> and you know it, the man of the hour is topper shutt. the only question, how much and when. top. >> well, when now. if you're actually in parts of virginia west of i81. for the rest of us we'll have to wait awhile.

we declared tomorrow a severe weather day for heavy wet snow. if you are east of i95, not that much is going to fall. phrase to an inch. if you get -- trace to an inch. if you get west, places like the district, rockville, bethesda back into fairfax, you get north of that near gaithersburg, up into southern frederick county 3-6 inches. that includes all of loudoun county and back into northern sections of fauquier county. there is going to be a bulls-eye of six plus. also a little bulls-eye around loray. why are we so concerned about this? the ground is warm. but there is a lot of trees with a lot of canopy left. so we're looking at major tree damage and the potential that would translate into a tremendous amount of power outages. now, here is the deal. winter weather advisory in baltimore, howard county, montgomery county back through fairfax and prince william and southern fauquier north and west of that still a winter storm

warning from midnight until saturday at 6:00 p.m. so we are concerned again about the heavy accumulation and we're talking maybe thunder snow and the whole bit. look at the temps. 39 in gaithersburg and 39 in manassas. these are going to be the high temperatures for the day as they fall throughout tomorrow. we'll come back and break it down for you hour by hour and tell you if we're going to salvage a nice sunday after what could be a historic storm. pepco says it's ready for tomorrow's snow pulling in extra snow to get any trees that could knock out power. that is what happened in colorado. heavy wet snow weighed down branches and trees and cut electricity to thousands of homes. as topper just mentioned, this is no early in the season for us, most trees are still full of their leaves and those leaves can hold on to snow until the branches physically collapse from the weight. >> the snowstorm in october is not what it's used to doing. so that's going to probably

breathing a collective sigh of relief. muingz muse a new day has come ♪ >> reporter: the community center turned into a house of celebration on friday night for the scores of people who had tire lesli searched for this little -- tirelessly searched for this little boy. >> heavenly father, we believe you worked a miracle. >> i cried for 15 minutes and then i was so thankful. >> reporter: robert wood junior known as robbie and now nicknamed miracle boy was missing since sunday. he had gone for a walk with his parents when he disappeared. about 2:00 p.m. a worker at the quarry found the boy in a fetal position near a gully less than a mile from where he was seen. >> roby wood junior has been found and re united with his family. he was found at approximately 2:00 p.m. on martin mary adam quarry property. >> reporter:

the severely autistic boy cannot speak or call for help. those facts prompted an intense search with thousands of volunteers from around the region. >> everybody started crying. there were just hugs and whistles. >> reporter: they searched high and low and the worker stumbled upon him. >> scared. you go to bed thinking. you don't know how to communicate with anybody. >> i just didn't know how he was going to do it and i prayed for this little boy. >> reporter: we're told the young boy is mostly just being treated to exposures. after all, he was out in the elements for six entire days. he is expected to be okay. investigators are trying to figure out how he disappeared in the first place. we're live in richmond, ken molestina, 9news now. >> thank you so much, ken. new at 11:00, the august 23rd earthquake seems to be the gift that keeps on giving. if you're planning on heading

down to union station this weekend, forget going to the main hall. it's been shut down for repairs for damages sustained during the quake. now, the trains are still running. the parking garage is still open. just follow the signs and you'll be good today. the main hall is expected to reopen completely monday morning at 6:00 a.m. all the chilly weather was not enough to deter supporters of the occupy dc movement. some students, alumni and staffers over at howard university rallied there tonight in support of the occupy dc movement and then they marched over to the occupy dc encampment on k street. they ended their trek on h street with another brief rally right outside the national chamber of commerce. >> this is under the direction of cooperation and military and industrial conflicts basically in this country. i mean, the 1% keeps getting richer and the other 99% keeps getting poorer and poorer daily.

>> organizers called this march from howard a march for jobs and justice. something heavy being dragged. that's what one of the apple store managers said she heard coming from the lululemon store the night jayna murray died. she said i heard somebody say stop, stop. oh, god. brittany norwood is on trial for the murder of murray back in march inside the store. now, the apple managers asked the two security guards to investigate what the noise was about but none of them left the building and not one of the four people inside the apple store called 911. norwood bludgeoned murray to death and then created an elaborate crime scene to cover it up. the lawyer admits his client killed jayna murray but he said it happened during a fight and it wasn't premeditated. a similar murder case that happened within days of lululemon has now been solved. this man 21-year-old josi reyes

killed his former co-worker. she was shot to death inside the burger king on east patrick street back in march. the assistant manager and mother of three was opening the store and later found by co-workers. >> we do believe some items were taken. that's why we have commented that robbery was a motive. >> this was a case that really took a lot of diligence taking a look at each and every piece of evidence possible. >> we have also learned the suspect is an illegal immigrant who reentered the country after being deported to el salvador in 2009. he was previously convicted of attempted robbery in 2008. a man took pictures of students and disgusting fantasies and today they sentenced him to 30 years in prison. he harmed the image of teachers everywhere and he said you represent the worst. the 36-year-old admitted he took 47 videos in his fourth grade

class at john adams elementary in alexandria. >> he also admitted that he took thousands of images of little girls that he knew that he taught and superimposed their heads on to vile images of violent sexual abuse of young girls. >> a tip from italian investigators to immigration custom enforcement led to the arrest last spring for sexually abusing two young girls. he's also accused of videotaping that abuse. in court today, he read a statement apologizing to everybody he hurt and saying he was drowning in a sea of shame and guilt. well, it has been 84 days now since gary giordano has been put behind bars for the disappearance of robyn gardner in aruba, and it doesn't look like he's going to be getting out any time soon. the 58-year-old will remain in custody for another 38 days. gardner went missing after the two went snorkeling in august. authorities on the island used search dogs once again to look

for the body of the 35-year-old frederick woman but, once again, they came away empty-handed. in our health alert tonight, the fda has approved new technology to help in the fight against skin cancer. this is called an optical coherent tomography scanner and it makes a diagnosis right there. using the device, doctors can look through the skin and see lesions and assess whether or not they are malignant. because the results are immediate, it can give patients instant piece of mind. >> it's a device that we can actually hold up to the skin and within 5-10 seconds actually have a diagnosis of a non-melanoma skin cancer. >> despite years of warning to overexposure to the sun, it still strikes 1-5 americans. look out for moles that change in size, shape or color and bring them to the attention of a

unbelievable. more than 2600 people are covered by a winter storm warning. >> for october. >> let's go to the graphics. if you are east of i95, this map is on our website. you can study it. i tweeted it out awhile ago. you can follow me at topper's weather. if you are south and east of 95, very little to worry about. you'll probably see snow. i think you'll see a brief period of snow all the way down into southern maryland as the rain comes to an end tomorrow evening. but west of 95, that includes the district and fairfax. now, just north of that from gaithersburg up to loudoun county, we're talking 3-6 inches. it's going to be very difficult to measure this because it's not going to accumulate unless you go way in the mountains. but grasses, grassy surfaces and the trees, that's what we're worried about. six inch bulls-eye cumberland right along the maryland-pa border into oakland and perhaps a little area of heavier snow around loray. so this is going to be one for

the books. and i tell you what, we're still concerned about the tree damage. i tweeted that last night. that translates into power outages. i don't care how many trees you cut, limbs are going to come down. critical time saturday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. power outages because the leaves are on the tree. thunder snow is likely. this is an incredibly dynamic system. lower visibility of 400 feet and put down snowfall. it will snow faster than it will melt. many of us will not get below freezing. we will tomorrow night but not tomorrow afternoon. so there are the advisories for montgomery county. there are the warnings loudoun county and frederick county. temps are already in the upper 30s. 39 in gaithersburg. 43 downtown. already 39 in manassas. temps aren't going to go up tomorrow. look at this, this is from virginia just southwest of winchester on the other side of

i81. it's all snow up there. they already have about a quarter inch on the picnic table. all right. this is all rain across the metro area. this is your mixture out to either side of i81 and that is going to work its way eastward. once the storm really kraingz tomorrow, it will draw -- cranks tomorrow, it will draw in colder air and that is what is going to turn rain to snow. a severe weather alert day tomorrow. the heaviest bands will be between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. with the thunder snow. a legitimate coastal storm. this is something we would expect to see in january or february. here is the silver lining. chilly but nice on sunday. all right. next seven days, temps on sunday will be chilly but okay for the marathon. i don't think the snow will bother them at all. 49. and then for halloween, it hasn't rained since 2002. we're going to keep that streak alive. temperatures in the mid 50s. a little chilly but not bad. then we're looking at temperatures in the upper 60s by thursday and then low 50s by
